MSP custom field formula to track project progress

    Hi

I think I’ve hit a brick wall with this one. I inherited a project plan that already contains some formula used to audit the project tasks on the plan. However there seems to be a problem with the formula that tracks the overdue activities on the plan, the formula is either not tracking accurately or the formula is wrong. pls see if you can interprete this:

    Switch(Complete]<100) And ([Finish]<[Date1])),"Overdue",([Summary]=No),"No Error")

The above formula was applied to the example below but the task audit shows that the task is overdue even when the task start date is still in the future. In this case the project status date is 29/10/10. Date1 is the project status date.

Task audit -task name- duration -start- -finish- %comp
    Overdue Train Trainers 1d Fri 22/10/10 Mon 25/10/10 0%

In the Project Help screen, type in "formula" and you should get an option for all formulas in custom fields. You can also check out the Jack Dahlgren's FAQ on custom fields to get a brief idea for the querie that you have asked or you might like to have a look at my free series for beginners on Microsoft Project in the TechTrax ezine, particularly customization.
