Disk defragmenter has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on

I’m having a Gigabyte XP Media Center Edition 2005. Since last few days am facing some problem with the same. Whenever I try to defrag, it gives me an error message saying:

“Disk defragmenter has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume (C:). Please run chkdsk /f”

I don’t know why is it occurring? Any Advice?

Hey just try out this. Open Command Prompt as an Administrator and run the following command:

Type chkdsk C: /f

It should fix the problem. Let me know if you face any more errors.

Thanks for the tips jasonholt. The command did fixed the error but a new problem raised now. Every time I start my computer runs the chckdsk on file system C on every boot up.

How can I stop it running every time?

Go to my computer/local disk:c/right click properties/click on tools/error checking/
check disc options/automaticly fix file system errors.it will tell you it cannot.
until you restart your computer,I tried this at first and it told me the checkdisk was
cancelled.so I unplugged my key board and low and behold it worked.now I can defrag my hard drive.
THATS WHY IT KEPT CANCELLING,THE KEYBOARD IS THE KEY.
I'M SUCH A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
