No audio in DVD playback on PC - what am I doing wrong?

I have some documentary and when i am playing it in windows media player than i am getting video but no sound. I don't have much idea about media player and i am using it for the first time. I have tried changing audio settings but that's not making any difference. My system runs on windows xp and i am running out of ideas now. Am i missing out anything??? any help regrading this will be appreciated.

What is the extension of your documentary video??? are you able to play mpeg format video without any issue??? If yes than your documentary video format might not be supported by windows media player and you will have to use some other player for playing that video. First check out the extension of the video that you are trying to play and let me know about it fur further help.
