Hey buddy, your information too short to understand the problem. Where is it asking for serial number and ID? How does the box looks? From where are you trying to play the audio/video, from CD, network, etc? Are these paid files, if yes, from where did you purchase them all?
This is not downloaded or purchased one. I recorded this video using TV tuner from TV and trying to play it in on Windows media Player. As far as Serial Number and ID is concerned I get a menu asking for them. Though it wont get me stuck because when I click cancel the video plays ok. I borrowed a CD with wmv files compiled from a video camera and it did the same. I tried using my login (administrator) to my XP but that didn't help.
I had this same problem, and every forum gives the same responses (that do not help because they are missing information) from what I have read :) But here is the solution, I would bet in every case: Register your CSII Dolby Plugin for Windows Media Player. At any rate, it is almost certainly one of yer plugins, probably that one. YMMV.
