Airtel broadband tariff increasing from March 26 2014?

    Hello all,

I am using Airtel broadband from long time. When I got my last months bill then I got a message saying that there will be an increase in the Tariff for Airtel broadband. I am using a Rs. 650 plan and from March 26 2014, the revised price for this same plan would be Rs. 749. They are increasing this price because of their input cost or something. Can anyone who is using Airtel broadband confirm that they also got the same message? Thanks

I too got a message from Airtel and it seems that this revised price is for the whole of India. The rent of our aitel broadband will be revised due to some increase in their input cost. Also, they have mentioned that if the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) or the download quotas for a particular plan is exhausted then instead of 256kbps, we will get a minimum of 512kbps download speed, which sounds fair.

I remember that Airtel has done this second increase in their broadband plans within 3 years. On the other hand BSNL also has increased their tariff within last 12 months, so Airtel took this opportunity it seems. I was hoping that in the future Internet cost would decrease, like in foreign countries where there is free wireless connection support, but here it is increasing now, this is really annoying.

Yes, it was confirmed that Airtel is going to hike fixed line broadband prices from April 17, 2014 by upto 40%. Now the new rent cost would be from Rs. 250 to Rs. 349 and they are informing their customers about this as well. The good thing is that Airtel broadband customers will get 512kbps minimum speed instead of 256kbps but the bad news is that it is getting costlier.
