Tata Docomo 2G is costlier than 3G

I was using Rs 39 pack of 2G on Tata Docomo network since past six months. They use to provide 14 rupees talktime with 2GB of data for 30 days validity. But now when i do recharge for the same, i dont get any talktime with just 1GB data and that also for 21 days. After digging out more i found that Docomo has increased the rates for their 2G data plans more than thrice in last few months.

Further, i was checking 3G tariffs as well where i found that their 3G packs are infact more affordable compared to the 2G plans. You can check or compare their 2G and 3G plans on their site but the most funny thing i noticed was you can get 50MB of 3G or 2G data just rs 5. So if one can get 50Mb 3G data at the same price then why will he go for 2G

Yeah, thats correct. Not just the 5 Rupees pack, but also check the Rs. 21 pack. We get 300MB 3G data for 3 days at Rs 21 and on other hand at Rs. 23 we get 300MB data of 2G as well for 3 days.

So until here 3G is at the same cost of 2G on Docomo network.

Those Rs. 5 and Rs. 23 pack which you guys are comparing with 2G are just to attract the customers to 3G connection. If we see their other packs, they are still far too costlier than 2G. Here is their 2G and 3G pack rates:

I too agree with you Orion. In no way 3G can be cheaper than 2G, atleast in this year. Apart from those 2 tariffs, rest all 3G packs are costlier than 2G. Anyways, if we compare Docomo 3G charges with other networks like Vodafone or Airtel, surely Docomo is cheaper for example, Vodafone offers 300 MB 3G Data for 28 days @ RS 109, while docomo offers 300 + 300MB data @ Rs 90 for 30 days.

You may be correct to some extent Osman84 but what do you have say about Docomo’s 250 Rupees plan? When you recharge for Rs.250 you get 250 rupees talktime plus 1GB 3G data for 30 days. I don’t think we have any such as plan in 2G, right?
