TCP optimizer not working for 512 kbps plan

Before I was using a Broadband plan of 256 kbps in which I was getting 50 to 60 kbps only. Then I used the TCP optimizer because of which I gained speed upto 200 kbps. Recently I have changed my plan to 512 kbps but the problem is I am getting only 30kbps even after using the TCP optimizer. How can I solve this? Please recommend.

You have not mentioned the TCP analyzer report. So for the time being lets assume that the following is your report:
    Tested on: 06.02.2011 06:08
    IP address: 59.182.xx.x
    Client OS: Windows XP

    TCP options string: 020405a20103030201010402
    MSS: 1442
    MTU: 1482
TCP Window: 258116 (NOT multiple of MSS)
    RWIN Scaling: 2 bits (2^2=4)
    Unscaled RWIN : 64529
    Recommended RWINs: 63448, 126896, 253792, 507584, 1015168
    BDP limit (200ms): 10325kbps (1291KBytes/s)
    BDP limit (500ms): 4130kbps (516KBytes/s)
    MTU Discovery: ON
    TTL: 51
    Timestamps: OFF
    SACKs: ON
    IP ToS: 00000000 (0)
If your report is same as above then I want to let you know that the setting for this is general setting tab. So for 512 kbps you have to set this to Advanced setting tab to utilize much speed. Check by changing the settings. I hope you will find help.

Re: TCP optimizer not working for 512 kbps plan

I agree with the settings. If the above report is similar to your report then you have to change other tings also such as shown below:
    TCP options string: 020405a20103030201010402
    MSS: 1442
    MTU: 1482
TCP Window: 258116 (NOT multiple of MSS)
    RWIN Scaling: 2 bits (2^2=4)
    Unscaled RWIN : 64529
    Recommended RWINs: 63448, 126896, 253792, 507584, 1015168

In the report see the fourth line i.e.”TCP Window: 258116 (NOT multiple of MSS)”. In this you have to make some changes. As 258116 in TCP windows is too high for 512 kbps line. Set it to 31944. Such as TCP Window: 31944 (NOT multiple of MSS).

Re: TCP optimizer not working for 512 kbps plan

If its not working then try performing the tracert as shown below:
SNR Margine : Downstream 21.4 Upstream
    11.8
Line attenuation : Downstream 31.0 Upstream
    18.0
Tracing router to triband-mum-59.182.88.163.mtnl.net.in [59.182.88.163] over a maximum of 30 hops:
    1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms triband-mum-59.182.88.163.mtnl.net.in [59.182.88.163]

    Trace complete.
Know chek it from Command Prompt.

Re: TCP optimizer not working for 512 kbps plan

Try the below settings. There are two types of settings such as General setting and Advanced setting.
Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

    General Settings tab:
    Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
    MTU - 1500
    TTL - 64
    TCP Receive Window - 256960
    MTU Discovery - Yes
    Black Hole Detect - No
    Selective Acks - Yes
    Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    TCP 1323 Options:
    Windows Scaling - check
    Timestamps - uncheck

    Or

    Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
    Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
    LocalPriority - 5
    Host Priority - 6
    DNSPriority - 7
    NetbtPriority - 8
    Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size – 32768
Check this setting. I am sure one of them will work.

Re: TCP optimizer not working for 512 kbps plan

By going to the internet perform tracert as shown:
    1 17 ms 15 ms 15 ms ip254.montreal103.dialup.canada.psi.net [154.20.
    0.254]
    2 15 ms 15 ms 15 ms c2-0.kntaonacdr01.bb.telus.com [154.11.88.193]
    3 37 ms 37 ms 38 ms 154.11.10.70
    4 37 ms 37 ms 37 ms Yahoo.plalca01gr00.bb.telus.com [154.11.3.74]
    5 38 ms 37 ms 37 ms ae1-p140.msr1.sp1.yahoo.com [216.115.107.53]
    6 37 ms 37 ms 37 ms te-9-1.bas-a1.sp1.yahoo.com [209.131.32.23]
    7 38 ms 38 ms 38 ms f1..vip.sp1.yahoo.com[209.131.36.158]

    Trace complete.
After this trace perform TCP report. Your problem will be solved and your speed will be increased as it should be for 512 kbps.
