Since, you have not mentioned your TCP Analyzer report. Let me assume that your TCP report be as below. Yours and mine TCP Analyzer report will be same because I have the same ISP with same broadband speed of 512.

    • Tested on: 08.28.2007 10:13
    • IP address: 222.127.xxx.x
    • TCP options string: 020405480103030001010402
    • MSS: 1352
    • MTU: 1392
    • TCP Window: 41912 (multiple of MSS)
    • RWIN Scaling: 0
    • Unscaled RWIN : 41912
    • Reccomended RWINs: 64896, 129792, 259584, 519168
    • BDP limit (200ms): 1676kbps (210KBytes/s)
    • BDP limit (500ms): 671kbps (84KBytes/s)
    • MTU Discovery: ON
    • TTL: 45
    • Timestamps: OFF
    • SACKs: ON
    • IP ToS: 00000000 (0)

Re: Tweaking of Globe Broadband 512 kbps

If your TCP Analyzer report is the above report then I think your MTU of 1392 is off the normal values. I recommend you to do the following General Settings. Adjust your MTU with TCP Optimizer.

    • General Settings tab:
    • Custom settings - check
    • Modify All Network Adapters - check
    • network adapter selection - your NIC
    • MTU 1500
    • TTL - 64
    • TCP Receive Window - leave blank
    • MTU Discovery - Yes
    • Black Hole Detect - No
    • Selective Acks - Yes
    • Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
    • TCP 1323 Options:
    • Windows Scaling - uncheck
    • Timestamps - uncheck

I can help you with the advanced settings tab if you don’t want General settings. The main difference is that there is difference in the performance. Its Obvious that the advanced setting tab is best. Just adjust it:
    Advanced Settings tab:
    • Max Connections per Server - 8
    • Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 8
    • LocalPriority - 1
    • Host Priority - 1
    • DNSPriority - 1
    • NetbtPriority - 1
    • Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
    • QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
    • ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
    • ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
    • MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
    • NetFailureCacheTime - 0
    • NegativeSOACache Time - 0
    • LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
    • Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect
    • After reboot, post a new TCP Analyzer report.

Re: Tweaking of Globe Broadband 512 kbps

You have to perform test and the result should be similar as below. You can take reference from it.
    • IP address: 222.127.xxx.xx
    • TCP options string: 0204054801010402
    • MSS: 1352
    • MTU: 1392
    • TCP Window: 64896 (multiple of MSS)
    • RWIN Scaling: 0
    • Unscaled RWIN : 64896
    • Reccomended RWINs: 64896, 129792, 259584, 519168
    • BDP limit (200ms): 2596kbps (324KBytes/s)
    • BDP limit (500ms): 1038kbps (130KBytes/s)
    • MTU Discovery: ON
    • TTL: 45
    • Timestamps: OFF
    • SACKs: ON
    • IP ToS: 01010000 (80)
    • Precedence: 010 (immediate)
    • Delay: 1 (low delay)
    • Throughput: 0 (normal throughput)
    • Reliability: 0 (normal reliability)
    • Cost: 0 (normal cost)
    • Check bit: 0 (correct)
    • DiffServ: AF22 010100 (20) - Assured Forwarding class 2, medium drop precedence (RFC 2597).

If you have never done tweaking before then your result will be same as above. Keep in mind that use the SG TCP Optimizer for Windows Xp.

Re: Tweaking of Globe Broadband 512 kbps

I would like to make others aware that if you have different operating system then the TCP optimizer has versions for it. In other words there are different versions for different operating system. If you use a version that is not compatible then it will troubleshoot by giving you an error message and the program will not work. Before downloading, see to it that you download a compatible one. For example the SG TCP Optimizer is compatible with Windows Xp operating system.
