setup wifi router for cable internet

Hello everybody,
I have a local internet cable that connected directly to my laptop through RJ45 connector. I was given a static IP address. It is 24 online. So everything is static. Also I provided software to install and connect to it. I recently purchased a d-link 2640T modem router. What I want is that rj45 to my Wi-fi router so that I can connect to internet through wireless. So give me idea to do this. You would be appreciated.

Hello friend I have similar kind of the problem. I have power on the router plus rj45 ports. now i am not able to connect to the internet, Router page not opening when i type 192.168.1.1 on my web browser. My configurations are. Router IP address: 198.x.x.20, subnet mask address: 255.255.255..0, default gateway: 198.X.X.1, DNS address: 198.X.X.1, problem is that each time when I connect it say that time out. So help please

Hi friend, You should try to reset your router. You have just powered on it and connected the rj45. It is required to reset it. Then open a web browser and type the 192.168.2.1 you will be redirected to router setting page. Try this friend. And follow the instruction given on the page. If any issue you get please post on this forum.

To configure your router go to the TCP / IP property from the LAN button in network places. Then check for automatically assign IP address. Then open any web browser and type 192.168.2.1 this URL in address bar. Then type the username and password The default is "admin". Click WAN. In this, select the type of connection, then enter the settings given to you by your ISP. Then save it and restart.
