Huawei E122 dongle good or bad

Hi can anyone help or advise me.
We are going on holiday to New Zealand in November 2010 and i would like to take my Laptop with me. I have been advised to obtain a Huawei E122 dongle and purchase a Sims in New Zealand I only want it so that i can use Skype and E-mails back to the UK and Australia but someone has said that the Huawei E122 would not do the job

Actually, the Huawei E122 is a mobile broadband (3G) dongle which is used as a real alternative to fixed-line broadband. However, it would be good if you can purchase such things from the state you are going to live in, so that you wouldnt have to bear extra cost or even network problem.
