Reliance communications has launched new BharatNet Plan for rural India.It is a high-speed wireless Internet service, will cover over 20,000 rural locations,and is RCom’s strategy to drive rural Internet penetration.

BharatNet will be offered at Rs.98/Week. “Driving Internet penetration across the country beyond major cities is a key priority for us,” said RCom president Mahesh Prasad.This tariff will be available across rural India excluding the metros and top 100 cities.

BharatNet is a high-speed wireless Internet service that will cover 20,000 rural locations. It will offer speeds of approximately 153 kbps. Reliance the Bharatnet Plan targets a rather low “existing addressable market base of around 4 million PC users in rural India”, who face quality of service issues with dialup Internet services. BharatNet will cover 20,000 rural locations across the country. The service will be available across rural India at a weekly tariff of Rs 98 per week with download up to 350 MB.
