How to solve Downloading speed issue ?

I am using airtel broadband connection in that i am getting nice surfing speed but only problem with download speed. my speed is 512 kbps in that i am getting 25 kbps download speed where as my other friends in building getting 30 to 40 kbps speed. I don't no what's the problem. Can anyone help me.

you can check whether the MTU values are perfect or not. You can use the software Dr TCP and fix the MTU value 1464.

If your connection allows it (you can't download faster than your ISP will send packets to your network device), then I suggest taking a look at Good settings, Bad ISPs and Avoid traffic shaping.
