Reliance Offers Free Netbook To Customers

Reliance Communications, a large telecom carrier in India, says that it will be giving away free netbooks for those who sign up for its two-year wireless Internet service. It has teamed up with Intel, Acer, Asus, HCL and Lenovo in order to make this happen.

Powered by Intel’s Atom or Via Technologies’ chip, all the laptops are highly portable. Netbook is referred to as small to medium sized, light-weight, low-cost, energy-efficient, Internet-centric laptops.

It’s actually fairly reasonable; just sign up for a 2-year contract for their wireless Internet, NetConnect, for about Rs. 1,500 or $30 a month. So basically you will have to pay Rs. 36,000 at the end of two year contact. Reliance will even be making the jump to 3G soon.

The $30-a-month offer is still too expensive, and Reliance might need to lower prices on Internet access.

Free Laptop With Reliance Connection with a net connection for Rs 1500

Get free laptop from Reliance Communication with a net connection for Rs 1500 every month only. And the good news does not end here. You will need to pay this amount only for two years and the laptop will be yours.

As per the scheme, customers will get free netbooks which are powered by Intel's 'Atom' and packaged with RCOM’s Net Connect data card services. The company is expected to release more details regarding availability, schemes and pricing shortly.

Reliance Communications has today entered into a strategic agreement with five leading laptop manfacturers - HCL, Intel, Acer, Asus and Lenovo to offer its customers free laptops along with their new internet connections.

“With a population of close to 1.2 billion and only 12 million Internet connections, the growth potential of Internet data services in India is all set to trace the penetration curve of mobile services which are currently adding over 100 million new subscribers every year. The growth of Internet services in India is one of the key visions of Reliance Communications,” said Mahesh Prasad, president, Reliance Communications.
