With new competitors entering the fray and the medium gradually becoming popular, leading DTH player Dish TV CEO Vinay Agrawal has said in an interview that he expects the DTH subscriber base in the country to rise to 30 million subscribers in four years time.

On his company prospects, the CEO said that Dish TV aims to increase its subscriber base from current 3.7 million subscribers to 5 million by March 2009.

The increased competition would have a positive effect. It will accelerate the growth besides making it easy for people to change from traditional cable to digital DTH technology, he added.

“With advent of DTH, TV viewing habits have changed completely. We have now entered a more advanced era where a customer has the freedom to choose content according to his or her preference,” he said.It is significant advantage over analogue cable, he said, adding that in a short span of time DTH category has acquired a substantial number of subscribers and is growing at a fast pace.
