Hi!!! I have two western digital internal hard drives. one is primary and the other is slave. The primary hdd is 500 gb which i have partitioned in 4 parts of 100 gb each. the secondary hdd is 80 gb which i have just made one partition. The second hdd i took out from my old Pc which was working fine there. But now the prob has arised that when i try to open the secondary hdd of 80 gb, it gives a message, " the drive is not formatted, do u want to format it now" i have imp data on it and i dont want to loose it. any solution.

Incase the hard drive that you are using has got formatterand the data on it has not got overwritten then you can perhaps try to use a program called Recuva to recover all the data from your 80gb hard drive.

    Hi Saphire.451,

I am glad to help you out. Based on your post, I'd like to check with you, have you try to connect the HDD to another PC? Is it working ok from the existing PC? If yes, please backup your existing data. Have you run the antivirus scan recently to the new PC? Can you see the HDD used space in “Properties”? Does it show up in the Disk Management? For the meantime, I suggest you some basic troubleshooting steps that may help you to solve the issue.

    1) Try to use different Port on same Mobo.
    2) Try to use different SATA cable.
    3) Try to use a HDD on another computer.
    4) Try a different disk to make sure that the problem is with the Port and not with the original disk.
    5) Check the power management in Windows or the BIOS menu as well to see what all options are on and which ones are off.

    Hope it helps.

    Try these steps :
Click on properties>security>edit( to change permission)>add> type everyone in the space provided> tick full control> enter ok

    Good Luck!
