A few things you can try to find whether the drive is working or not. First replace the power cable that you are connected to the hard drive. A psu has multiple sata power connectors. Try a different one. If this does not help then try changing the SATA cable. And at last there are multiple sata ports try connecting drive in each of them one by one. Go in bios and check whether the drive appears or not. If not then it looks the hard drive is not powering on. It can be a hardware fault.
Hi The Scouts,
As per Dabert update, I agree with them, It could be some more possible reason for the issue like hardware faulty, compatibility, MOBO connector issue, SATA cable issue and BIOS settings. To confirm the possible reason, please try the following steps.
Step 1:
1) Try to use different Port on same Mobo.
2) Try to use different SATA cable.
3) Try to use HDD in another computer.
4) Try a different disk to make sure that the problem is with the Port and not with the original disk.
5) Check the power management in Windows or the BIOS menu as well to see what all options are on and which ones are off.
Try to connect HDD with another working computer as a secondary drive, and run the Windows Data Lifeguard Diagnostics in system.
