Error 0x80070057 while formatting SSD on Windows 8.1

I am getting Error 0x80070057 when I am trying to format a 64GB SSD on Windows 8.1. This is a new SSD that I had added. I am planing to move Windows 8 o the SSD to get more better performance. I am already having a 500GB hard drive, but my system looks slow. So my friend suggested me to go ahead with a SSD to get a much better output. I had connected the SSD on Sata 6GB/s interface. It is detected in disk management, But when I trying to format it is giving me Error 0x80070057.

The drive might be damage. You said it is a new one so it must not give you any error at the time of formatting. You have to contact the seller to give you a replacement for the same. Just for testing purpose connect the drive on any other port and check back.

There are many reasons why you are not able to format the hard drive. It is right that sometime it can be due to a damage product. But there can be other reason also. Like bad capable or bad connectivity port. You can check that one by one. Second thing you have to do is go in bios and change the Sata mode. Hook it on AHCI and then check back. If that also does not work then just download a hard drive health test software from web and scan the hard drive with it. If there is any error detected then it simply means the drive which you had bought is damage. You have to go and ask for replacement. There are some third party drive formatting tools also available. This tools can help you to format the drive which has serious hardware bug. Just try them out and check back.

There is one simple way to find whether the SSD is damage or not. You have to defrag it. If the defragmentation goes well then the drive is ok. But if that is not fine then the SSD has some serious issue and you must get it replaced at once.
