Formatting Western Digital WD20EARS 2TB Hard Drive is taking 24 hours

I have recently bought Western Digital WD20EARS 2TB Hard Drive and I have created a 1.8TB simple volume and I was really shocked as it took 24 hours for the same, I was using a Vantec Nexstar Dock for it on Windows 7 , I just wanted to know does it really takes such a long time or it was just because I was using dock connection, is there anyone who has an idea about it???

You should have tried connecting it directly to a computer rather than using Vantec Nexstar Dock, I am quite sure it would have taken much less time than what you have reported.

• Connecting it directly to the computer
• Connecting it directly to the motherboard
• Choosing quick format
