Unable to install drivers for Brother MFC-J615W printer

Well I am using Gateway MC78 series laptop which is powered by Windows Vista. I have installed the printer on other laptop which is running with windows 7 and we are able to print without having any issue. I tried to reinstalled the drivers on the laptop but when I have a look on the properties it is prompting with an error message which can be stated as printer drivers are not installed. if you are having any idea why above mentioned problem is happening then let me know as early as possible. Thanks a lot in advance.

After going through the problem of yours I recommend that you should go for Device Manager of your computer and see whether you are getting any yellow exclamation mark.

If you go for Properties area and see that you are getting any option to update your drivers. In case you are getting that particular option then you should try to update the drivers. Also you look into the windows\winsxs folder if you are able to see whether it helps you out or not.

Hey I have managed to install the printer drivers but now I started with another issue. after connecting with USB cable with my laptop I am not able to deal with printer wirelessly. IP is 192.168.0.4. I hope you will help me out again to resolve the issue.

From the printer properties you should click on Advanced tab and move the Spool print documents so that program would be able to complete printing quickly. also you have to see that printer is able to ping by your system. on command prompt you should enter ‘ping 192.168.0.4’ without having any quotes. If you are getting 4 reply and then continue with the below mentioned steps.

• From Ports you have to click on create a new port and select tcp/ip..
• Here you will need to add manually add printer IP 192.168.0.4. keep rest the setting as it is.
• Once you have done click on Ok button in order to close the windows. From the ports column you will need to select 192.168.0.4 port and click on checkbox.
• Finally apply the settings and go for general tab.
• Now you should run a test page.

In case you are not response then you should check that correct address is mentioned into the network settings on your printer. Also try to disable the Firewall and try to ping the IP address again and let me know whether it is making any difference in the situation.

Another solution I wanted to recommend over here which you can give a try if any of solutions mentioned above are not working.
You should launch the command prompt with administrative privileges

net stop spooler

Press enter

net start spooler

Press enter
Now see that printer is being displayed on the system.

Launch Command prompt as administrator on your computer.

takeown /f c:\windows\twain.dll

icacls c:\windows\twain.dll /grant %USERNAME%:f

takeown /f c:\windows\twunk_16.exe

ren twain.dll twain.dll.bak

ren twunk_16.exe twunk_16.exe.bak
