How are you trying to install the windows xp opearting system? Do you have the windows xp cd with you? The error that you are getting could be related to many things like, ram issues, driver issues and so. First try to remove one of the memory chips (usually easily accessible underneath). Then reboot and see how it does. Then try the other chip all by itself. This assumes there’s more than one memory chip.
im trying with de original xp install cd, i just tryed with another ram but i got the same result even changing ram slot
Have you also tested the ram from memtest site, it will tell you whether the ram is faulty or not. Another thing is reparing your xp, if repair doesn't pass from any reason, pull your Hard drive and take it to your friend, back up the data, and reinstall OS. You can also try fixboot or if you know how to rewrite the bootloader use bootcfg.
is an all new installation, the computer is new and comes with win 7 pro but i need install a program that works in xp only, already tried a new ram and hd and nothing.
I found out that you will either need to install or slipstream the SATA drivers for the motherboard into your XP installer, download from HP here or switch the BIOS AHCI settings as XP doesn't have native support for the on-board SATA controller.
you know you've made it big on here when you have your own imposter
