Which SATA port to choose before installing a new SSD?

I will be installing a new SSD in my build. So that brings me to the question that which SATA ort should I be using. Should I go ahead and use the one controlled by the Z68 or the Marvell chip? Well I want to know what maximum people choose to go with and what would be their preferred choice?

    Thanks in advance.

I would prefer Intel then marvel because Intel is known for its reliability and also you will get a good performance with it. so my first preferred option would be to go with the Intel one and not the marvel port. Well that’s my opinion and last decision should be left upon you.

Intel SATA ports are much faster as well as much dependable than the SATA ports of marvel be it for HDD or SSD. Like the above user even I am a true loyalist of Intel products. So even my vote will go with the Intel SATA port. Anything else that you need to know then please do feel free to ask here.

Re: Which SATA port to choose before installing a new SSD?

I have three options in front of me and I am confused with which port I should go ahead with the SSD?

Well below are the three options

    Dark blue: SATA6G_E1 and SATA6G_E2
    White: SATA6G_1 and SATA6G_2
    Light blue: SATA3G_3, SATA3G_4, SATA3G_5 and SATA3G_6

So can you please tell me something about it. as if which of the above sata ports would be best for my SSD?

The White: SATA6G_1 is the intel Sata III port which is much faster than the Light blue: SATA3G_3 which is known as Marvell SATA III controller. While the first one Dark blue: SATA6G_E1 would be a ideal controller for the DVD drive.

I hope all your confusions have been cleared.

Ok that means I should be going with the White: SATA6G_1 and SATA6G_2 right. That would be a suitable option for my SSD right?

Yes obviously the white SATA6G_1 which is one the SATA III controller. Also one more advise that I would like to give you is that when you are performing the OS reinstallation be careful that you are setting the bios sata mode to AHCI. So you should be careful of that.
