BA735 Digital Speakers not Working W/ Win 7

Speakers are Gateway BA735 digital speakers that were working fine with Soundblaster Live CT-4870 sound card under XP. Upgraded to Win 7 and the card is not supported by Win 7.

Has anyone found a new digital sound card that will run these very nice speakers?

You need to enable digital output for the sound device if the Advanced button is not available in the volume controls. To do the same follow the steps below:

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Entertainment, and then click Volume Control.
2. In Volume Control, on the Options menu, click Advanced Controls.
3. Click Advanced Options on the Play Control dialog box.
4. Click to clear the Digital Output Only check box, and then click Close.

I do not get a screen to change to digital output. I have a integrated Sigmatel high definition audio CODEC card. I do not believe I can get digital output from this card.

Actually, the problem here is that most BA735 speakers ran on a digital signal, which was played through the standard audio jack (which normally carries an analog signal). The trick is to get the drivers to play everything in this digital format. In XP this was accomplished easily via a setting "Digital Output Only," but this does not seem to exist in Windows 7.
