adding hard drive to dell atg 6420

    Hello,
I recently purchased a refurbished dell atg 6420 laptop and would like to add a bigger hd. i currently have a 320hd. I'm using the laptop primarily for viewing video of golf swing during my golf instruction.

It looks like there may be two ways to do this:

    1. change the internal hd to a 750 7200hd. i'm assuming this is available as it's listed as an upgrade on the website.
    2. add a drive caddy with the 2.5" drive.

so my first question would be, if i can add the 750hd would this be a faster Hd than adding the drive caddy?

Is there a better type of 2.5hd than another. i read the SSD is better but not sure why.
    Any guidance would be welcome.
    thank you.

I personally think that getting a Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB will be a better choice if you are talking about the same.

thank you..... so i ended up ordering the Hitachi 750gb 7200rpm upgrade to the internal 350gb that came with it. I'm sure at some point i'm going to use the removable HD.

Not sure if you know the answer to this but how difficult is it to transfer the hard drives? I know it's fairly simple to change out the drives but not sure the best way to transfer. Is there a way to get an exact copy (ghost) of the existing hard drive so i can just transfer info back onto new HD?
    thanks,
    Owen
