    System’s firmware area damaged.

I cannot access My Hitachi 2.5" IDE HDD. I am trying to access it from windows using USB device, but it is not recognized. I tried connecting it from BIOS of my laptop, but even BIOS don’t detect it. My USB device is 2.5" which I am trying to connect to 40-pin IDE converter connected to my laptop. Can anybody help me solving this issue?

Knowing specifications of your hard drive would help knowing the problem better. If you are not able to hear spinning noise from your hard disk after powering it up or can’t feel it vibrating, then the problem is with the pcb of it.

This is a ATMR series. The problem that you have mentioned in your question can conclude many things. Your hard drive may be suffering with weak head(s), enormous bad sector (G-List overload), NV-RAM corruption and so on. If the problem is regarding pcb only, then recovery of hard disk is more possible. If problem is regarding firmware then it can be only solved with help of special hardware along with special software.

Are you sure that you connected your 2.5” pin correctly in 40 pin converter. Because if not, then it can burn your pcb. If any hard disk is suffering from such problem then it can be corrected by manipulation Master and Slave drive from BIOS. It is also solved by changing priority of access from BIOS. But since your hard drive is not visible in BIOS, these methods won’t help.

As you say that the hard drive is not detected by windows as well as by BIOS, then you can try using R-Studio. It finds the drives that even BIOS fails to detect sometimes. If this doesn’t help, I suggest you seek professional help.
