Realtek says speaker not plugged in

Help!! I think I made the stupid mistake of unplugging my speakers and and plugging in earphones. Nothing works now! I realise I should have used a different socket, on the front of the PC marked for headphones but hey ho done it now. Old speakers stopped working and despite pottering around the various options haven't got them back working. I have Realtek and I think I need to have Realtek high definition speakers (1st option) working & it says speaker not plugged in. Tried pink, blue and green sockets but still nothing. Any ideas?

Re: Realtek says speaker not plugged in

Could you please tell us which operating system you are using? Can you try to go to Device Manager and un-installing the sound drivers, reboot and Vista will re-install the drivers. Your sound card could be broken, but it would be rare if it was.
