The CD/DVD drive on my laptop has quit working. It worked fine in the year I've had it, until yesterday. Now, when I put a DVD in, for example, it starts whirring away and the light comes on, then ... nothing. I've installed two programs that are supposed to ferret out driver problems and it appears that these (one or more) drivers are the problem: afc.sys, cdrom.sys, and PxHelp20.sys. But when I scan the drivers, the programs tell me all are fine.
I'm running Windows 7 on an HP ProBook 4510s. I've looked all over the Internet for similar problems but all are at least a year old, pertain to Windows Vista, or involve editing the registry, which I can do as a last resort, but it scares me a lot!
Can anyone help? Please?
