    AAM Option is supported or not in WD20EARS-00MVWB0

    I recently purchased another WD20EARS-00MVWB0. The strange thing is that my WD20EARS-00MVWB0 first report AAM is supported, but my new report WD20EARS-00MVWB0 NOT SUPPORTED.I have tried allowing it through a lot of programs (HDTune, hdScan etc), but does not save my settings because property is not compatible. WD recently made in the new AAM disabled WD20EARS-00MVWB0?

    I suggest you to check both drives properly. Check the firmware versions of both drives. Both Drives should have same version

    Firmware / dev / sdd is 50.0AB50 (WD20EARS-00MVWB0)
    Code:
    # Hdparm-M / dev / sdd
    / Dev / sdd:
    acoustic = 254 (128 = 254 ... quiet fast =)
    The / dev / sde 51.0AB51 firmware (WD20EARS-00MVWB0)
    # Hdparm-M / dev / sde
    / Dev / sde:
    acoustic = 254 (128 = 254 ... quiet fast =)

    • Bit # 9 of the Word # 83 of the ATA Identify Device information block indicates whether "the AAM feature set is supported.
    • Bit # 9 # 83 indicates whether the word "AAM feature set is enabled.

    Word # 94 indicates the "present value AAM". "Seller AAM recommended value" is presented in the high byte, and the "current AAM value" in the low byte.

    My WD20EARS first is from 2010 and the second is recent (3 months). At the weekend I opened the case and compare the labels, as he did not notice anything strange. I think you should contact support and ask why WD two discs are the same model and have the same firmware (and different labeling) have different characteristics. The label of the "new" lacks many of the certificates (which are not on the label), one of them is the "Serial ATA".

    Both my WD10EARS from January 2011 and my WD10EADS February 2011 have the same (or similar) stickers to your "with AAM" unit. I've never seen (or buy) a WD drive is certified that the failure "without AAM" show of unity. Now, WD would respond if one proves that is false, since my albums are designed and sell in North America, so it is predictable to have the CSA mark and all that. I do not be acquainted if WD legitimate sell in other markets bring the full classification, or have dissimilar stickers, since I've never bought one.

    WD wrote that must have valid WD20EARS SATA label on them and the role of AAM. I’m waiting for confirmation from the EU to the region .If so; we have a trouble with hard drives FAKE!

    AIUI, a genuine recertified unit would be an "R" on the label. I realize that the model number, WD20EARS-11R6B1 not coincide exactly with the DCX, 1015R0F65. According to my analysis of the disk label, the second digit in the DCX regular hard drives must match the second digit of model number suffix. Perhaps this is the certification of a new unit was discussed? In your case, you could get a lot more useful information by removing the PCB. Until then, only speculation.

    Hdd gave false to buy - If I did that, I lose the warranty - and probably will not do that. So basically, nails vendors are trying to sell these as a renewed certificate, even when that is not renewed certificate. I pick up a little. I will look for valid seller's Polish for now.
