Can Seasonic SS-500ET handle Intel core i7 and Nvidia GTX 570

I need help regarding my power supply unit. Right now I have plan of upgrading my graphics card. I want to buy the Nvidia gtx 570. My system specs is
    • Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.66 GHz
    • Motherboard: Intel DX58SO
    • Memory: G. SKILL DDR3 PC3-10666 CL9
    • Graphics Card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD5450 512MB DDR2
    • Power Supply: Seasonic SS-500ET
    • Storage: Samsung 500GB.

I don’t know whether updating the power supply unit is required. So the information I need is that is this power supply what I am using is capable handling my graphics card or it will fail to handle it.

I am having GTX 570 with 650w power supply. As what I know the power consumption of the graphics card is more than what your power supply is using right now. The minimum requirement of the graphics card is around 550 W and your power supply unit having 500 W. So Intel core i7 920 2.66 GHz which also consumes some of the power around I think 95 watts. So I will suggest you while buying the graphics card buy also the power supply unit also.

I have the intel core i7 3.0Ghz and Nvidia Geforce Gtx 570. And right now I am using Coolermasters 500w power supply. I seen that in review that the power required while playing the game crysis 2 is less as compare to what they said minimum requirement. It is consuming around 400W power. So I don’t think you need any upgrade for it. The graphics card with intel core i7 will be handled by your power supply. There is no problem.

I have also the power supply Seasonic SS-500Et and using core i5 processor and Nvidia GTX 570 graphics card. I am never facing any problem while running this graphics card on my system. I am using this hardware configuration from around 5 months and I am still not facing any problem with it yet. So I think there is no issue and no needs for upgrading your power supply only upgrade the graphics card. It works perfectly with it.

I don’t think it will handle the load of the card as well as processor. Since this card hogs lots of the power while it is in the load situation. That is while playing the games or using any animation software. It will use around the 560 w. since I have tried this graphics card with my 500W power supply. When I tried to start the system it fails to start the system. So updated my power supply to 600W .after that when I tried to run the card it runs perfectly. So power supply for this graphics card is crucial.

I am using GTX 570 from around 3 to 4 months and I am using it with 600W power supply while is of coolermasters. You must know that this graphics card requires 6 pin or 6pinX2 extra power connection form power supply unit. As what I know about your power supply that it has 500W but I don’t think it will provide complete power. I think it provides only 400 to 410w of power through 12 v rail. So I will suggest you that you have to upgrade your power supply to around 600W.

I am facing this problem when I used it GTX 570 with the power supply of 450W which is coming with my cabinet itself. But when I stated the system it runs perfectly but when I tried to run the game. After a few minutes it will be crashing. And showing the blue screen of death and restarts itself so this problem you can also face while playing. It is happening due to the appropriate power is not provided by the power supply. So after upgrading power supply to around 700W it works perfectly now. So I will suggest you to buy new power supply otherwise this problem may cause hardware damage.
