This is probably the memory card format in the most dependent current digital cameras. We can find two sizes of CompactFlash card. The CompastFlash type I which is finer in size and CompactFlash Type II, which has greater storage capacity. Try to find the maximum a digital camera (or other device) that supports two types of cards. Compared to other memory cards, CompactFlash has a chip increases the speed of transfer.

There is another advantage for that. In case of the CompactFlash memory is that it is very easy to find on the market for an affordable price. From a size perspective, the SD and MMC are the queens in this field. That is why we find the SD card and MMC in small devices such as PDAs, music players, mobile phones. The big difference between SD and MMC is the presence of a switch on the side of the card that allows or denies writing. It's a little more that you can protect your data

SD cards are slightly slower than CompactFlash but their size makes it a major asset. One can even find mini-SD for mobile phones. Adapters are available to play a mini-SD card in a SD slot. This memory card is the better version of of Flash memory cards. You do not actually choose which card to use, since it requires that your device format. The most common format for digital cameras is the SD.

The capacity issue is very important because it affects directly the price of the memory card. If 4 GB models are available for small fee, 16 GB cards today offer the best capacity / price and allow you to deal with any situation. This ability saves you also buy a new card if your needs are likely to change. It all depends on your needs, and only the photo enthusiasts burst or HD video cards will need fast. Those with the device have good write performance might also be interested.

The performance of your card must be significant, especially in writing. So choose the high-end brands Be sure to check compatibility with SDHC cards, which are the most common beyond 4 GB. Having multiple cards stored in the bottom of your pack increases the chances of these being damaged. The speed of reading and writing the card does not depend on the size of it but the class itself. That is, a 16GB Class 6 card is faster than Class 4 8 GB
