First of all can you tell us what is your full computer specifications? Well, if this problem started to happened recently then your Power Supply may be going out. Another may be you RAM, but I'd bet on Power Supply for now. Have you tried running the windows repair from the cd? What operating system is it by the way? Boot from cd and skip the first press R for repair and go the setup and after you press F8, use the R for repair and it will check all your sys files.

As your motherboard seems to be a newer one, so it is possible to detect the USB device as a hard drive (USB-HDD0). In which case, you can press a specific key (F2, F10, F11 or ESC) during system post to access the "Boot Menu". Select your USB DISK from the Boot Menu and resume startup. And check for any loose connection of the cable which might be the problem why your cd rom and hard disk are not getting detected.Originally Posted by kasamm2002
