question Hitachi Hard Drive suddenly not accessible and corrupted on window7

I have Windows 7 and have been using an external hard drive for over 6 months no problem. All of the sudden today, it gives me the error message "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." All the posts I've read say to open the start menu and click run, but that's not visible on Windows 7. I downloaded the "Sea Tools for Windows" hard drive scan, but it didn't find anything wrong. I restarted the computer. Used every available USB port. Used every available USB cord. How can I fix this without erasing everything? This was supposed to be my safe haven for all my backups and now it's not available! Help!

Well I guess that your problem is more complicated one now what I want you to do here is that just try and do the visit the Hitachi service center where there are experts of data recovery and I am sure that they will help you to recover the data. Hard drive data recovery is typically executed in a clean room, such as hard disks are sealed to prevent errors caused by dust or other particles. Also hard drives are finely tuned machines and specialized equipment needed to read the discs from physical damage unit. If you are sending your hard drive to a data recovery specialist, then you should try to obtain an initial estimate of fees though rarely get one, ask that if you send your computer for purposes of appointment to send it back to you on the same terms if you decide not to use the service

    Nooooo-oo-oo-oo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!!!!!!!!! Don't do that!

There is probably nothing wrong with your hard drive, the most likely explanation is that you removed it while it was still updating and that has corrupted the file structure.

There are plenty of software products on the market that may be able to recover the data. Google "restore usb drive file system" to find them.
