The second generation of the NZXT Lexa holds back a little more in terms of design. Only the top reminds slightly protruding, rounded nose because it is the Lexa S is the successor to the Lexa. The entire body (except the front which is high gloss finish) will appear in a matt black, which is only with the white blades of the fan as standard built-in contrast. The front end is a little more aggressive especially during operation and offers an attractive appearance. The bright blue then three light stripes are particularly at night to advantage and fit very well into the picture. During the lower portion of the front serves as an air inlet for the underlying 120-mm fan, the upper portion acts as a door to drive and fan control to cover up when not in use. Behind the door are, in addition to the aforementioned four 5.25" drive bays, the 3.5" drive bay and the fan control. All panels are available in mesh optical designed and equipped with a one-millimeter-thick dust filter.

The integrated fan controller can control up to four fans into two groups. Other seat next to the 3.5" drive bay was used for the power and reset switches. Rounding out the picture by a NZXT logo, which is covered with the door closed. On our test machine was unfortunately negative, that the black paint on the outside of the plastic parts of the front, particularly at the edges, is slightly tarnished. In the area of the cover there are only two large air intakes for either two 120 - or 140-mm fan. Thus, the warm air of the interior to be removed quickly to the outside. Too bad that the NZXT Lexa S has donated not out stabbing cover, because the air intakes in black painted steel, the Lexa S seems a bit "like the shelf".

At first glance, the rear panel believes this housing. A large 120 mm fan at the top, all seven slot aperture of the expansion slots in mesh-optics to facilitate the flow of air from the housing and even the area next to a perforated grid, and a bottom mounted power supply, which through a dust filter in the base's fresh air to cool the underside of the housing gets. Looking more toward something, even two tube grommets fall to drive an external water cooling from above the fan. These are, however, if given by the work of 140-mm fan attached to the rear opening of the lid, completely out of place! On the one between the rear wall and 140-mm fan just about 20 mm square and the other, there are between 140-mm fan in the lid and the 120-mm fan on the back wall just a gap of about 8 mm to a hose to run through. Instead, we installed two 120-mm fan, increasing the distance to the rear wall to about 30 mm and the gap between the fans is reduced even to about 6 mm. So if you want to run an external water cooling is to dispense it or not, to one of two possible fan in the lid or even have to cut - too bad.

While the right side wall is kept very simple without any opening, home to the left side wall, a generous-sized window, to get an optimum view of the interior built-in hardware. The viewing window is mounted on bent metal tabs and offers probably only one opportunity to expand. embedded in the disk provides a blue-lit NZXT 120-mm LED fan that is protected by black hole plate to the outside. Both sides raced extremely resistant to the chassis, and be kept informed of thumb screws in place. Unfortunately there are no side wall of the left tab to Selby to solve the chassis, instead using the buyer must, for example, the outwardly curved glass. Overall, the NZXT Lexa S to well-made painting on the front. In particular, the door in the front is held by powerful magnets in their position, guaranteeing adequate security during transport.

In the black-painted interior, first everything seems as usual. The power supply is on the bottom, mounted on four rubber feet, mounted and can be installed only in one direction, so it gets to the fan down cold air from the bottom. The front section contains three cages to attach the four 5.25" drives, including one for a maximum of two 3.5" drives. Although the practice has shown that the use of two hard drives is possible, however, is difficult since the entire cable lighting kits and of port then pass under a hard drive. In the lower part is finally a rotated by 90 ° hard drive cage in which vibration damping up to five hard drives can be accommodated. In order to provide the sensitive storage media with enough cold air in front of the hard drive cage, another 120mm fan is mounted, transported by the air through ovals. Since most of these openings is covered by built-in hard drives, the practice test will have to show how effectively the installed fan.

Re: Information about the NZXT Lexa S

The installation of the hardware design is the NZXT Lexa S largely unproblematic, although also notice some other things. Thus, the lid mounted on 140-mm fan occurs at the onset of the motherboard again negative in appearance. First, however, the spacers to mount the motherboard to be screwed with pliers, as the appropriate thread in the motherboard tray are inadequately prepared. The included thumb screws to fasten the motherboard make most of it so that unpleasant threading a member of the small screws in the past. In the upper part but you can practically the screw heads to use to make safe and secure place them. Now back to the 140-mm fan should be held in the Main Board Assembly in the case, it is arbitrarily difficult, screws to tighten all and Route Processor power cable in the covered under "Equipment inside" mentioned groove is almost impossible, as between the main board and 140-mm fan there are only about 4 mm air. For our tastes should be the disks in the designated cage something pushed far to use, so that one angle on the side of the right side wall in the best case SATA power connectors, as they are usually bent from the side wall if necessary. Otherwise, all the cables could be easily behind the motherboard tray and the right side wall was then closed with little effort. In this way remains an optimum air flow inside the case is guaranteed.
