How do I recover data from external Seagate HDD with bad sectors

    Hello Geeks,

I have a External Seagate FreeAgent Go 500 GB HDD. It was working fine till 2 weeks back when I once plugged it into one of my friend's comp and then it started giving a pop-up of "Windows Delayed write failed"..

Then slowly it stopped showing its sub folders and then now when I connect to my computer it does not show up in "My computer". infacts my computer hangs.

I tried different cables, different computers but nothing worked.

Then I found that problem is with my unit (Which is under warranty). I used many SW's available online for data recovery..

Hardly couple of them were able to detect my HDD..one of them was "Recover Data" which is a very strong tool and it also discovered bad sectors on my device as well as it showed up the extractable data. I did not find its full version and hence was unable to save the data it captured.

Now I know for sure there are many Bad sectors on the unit and Its very important for me to recover the data. As the device is under warranty, I do not have any problem replacing it once I have the data.

I also tried HDD regenerator to heal the bad sectors but nothing happened.
Now atleast the poor device shows up in "My computer" as a "local disk" but does not allow any operation to be performed.

    Any help will be appreciated..

Also, I read on one of the thread to use the "Kill Disk" tool.. which I will try..

Thanks in advance and ReSpEcTs for any efforts..

I just found that kill Disk also deletes all the data on the HDD..

Is there anyway I can get my data back ??

Had you tried Recuva ? It is one of the best recovery application i have ever used. Give it a try. You can . You can also check out some of the great application for the same here: Top Softwares To Recover Deleted Data

Thanks Maq.H .. I will surely give it a try..

But I have a doubt that I wont be able to recover data unless my HDD is detected by any SW Tool.

In all the data recovery tools I tried, it says "0 bytes in Disk 1"..

But I wont take a breath until I try all the possible solutions..

    Thanks once again ..
