An Unexpected Internal Error Has Occurred while scanning

    Hi,

The software on my HP 4070 scanner sends the following error when I try to scan:

There was an unexpected internal error.
Click OK to close the program and then try again from the following options:
    - Restart the program
    - Restart the computer and try again
    - Reinstall the Photo and Imaging software and try again.

I followed the instructions and nothing happens.

The scanner works fine from the wizard scans the Windows XP Home what happens I can only use for images and not for slides and negatives which is what I need.

I installed all the patches for my HP software and tried the solutions they give me. I have also written but I say the same thing they put on their website.

See if you can help me

If you are using the HP Director software, verify that all icons are present. If there are only two icons on the screen of the HP Director, click here to go to The all-in-one HP seems to install, but only see two icons in the Director. If all icons are in the Director, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, select Settings and then click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click System. Dialog box appears in System Properties.
    3. Click the Hardware tab.
    4. Click Device Manager. Dialog box appears in Device Manager.
    5. Click the plus sign (+) located next to Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    6. Click USB Composite Device, and then click Remove.
    7. Disconnect the USB cable from the all-in-one, wait several seconds and then reconnect the cable. Dialog box appears Found New Hardware.
    8. Click Next on all screens that appear while the Wizard installs the USB composite device and then click Finish.

Re: An Unexpected Internal Error Has Occurred while scanning

I have a solution to the internal error that occurs when scanning documents to a PDF. It worked for me and might work on other HP printers and software. They also gave me the following three options: restart the program, restart your computer and reinstall the software. I had HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One Printer. I tried all three and nothing worked. I was working a few days before that so I tried to remember what might have changed that could have caused the problem. Finally, I remembered that I changed the values from document scanning resolution of 300 dpi to 150 dpi. So I tried to switch back to 300 dpi and it worked. It also works to resolution of 200 dpi, but not always at or below 150 dpi when scanning a document to save as PDF.
