Western Digital WD10EADS hard drive not detected

My P5Q motherboard will not detect my WD Caviar Green WD10EADS 1000 GB hard drive. It would go to the Blue screen when press DEL and go to Bios, i have tested the hdd and it is fine on another system. Any idea's appreciated, i am wondering could this cause from the case of the P5Q motherboard.

Are you trying to boot from the wd10eads HD or a CD? From another drive Go to the "Control Panel". Click on "Performance and Maintenance", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management", "Storage", "Disk Management". If you see it, there might be an option to activate it.

Have you tried testing the wd10eads HDD with something such as SeaTools? It should work with most HDDs. SeaTools helps you quickly determine the condition of the disc drive in your external hard drive, desktop or notebook computer. You will have to install both the HDD and the software in another computer to use it but it will tell you if your drive is working or not.

If wd10eads hdd not seen by the bios:

    1. Plugging wrong
    2. Cable installed wrong or bad.
    3. Bad drive.
    4. Bad controller

Try checking the "disk management" to go there: right click "my computer" click "manage" ?>now theres a new window that popped up, click the "disk management" >you should see your wd10eads disk there. Is the didn't solve the problem Check master/slave/CS jumper position. Check IDE cable to ensure it is securely plugged in to both motherboard and HDD connectors.

You need to get the wd10eads drive recognized in the bios before you can continue with anything else. You said the bios is locked, you mean you can't change any settings? Does your motherboards recognize hard disks above 500 gb? Check with the MB manufacturer if this is the case. You may need to download and burn a new BIOS.
