Front USB and lights not working on front of computer

I have a computer and the front light or usb panel of the cpu doesnt seems to work. I tried to plug in my 4 gb pen drive in the front usb ports but it will not recognize the drive. I am not a computer savy therefore I dont know how to open and check the inside of the cabinet for loose wire connections. What should I do, please help.

Have you first tried to uninstall all the drivers for your usb port and checked whether the problem is resolved? Refer to some suggestions given in similar type of threads: Front panel USB is not working why?

It is also possible that you might have virus on your pen drive. Some of the viruses corrupt the drivers for USB, HDisks. Take your USB to a new computer that has a good anti-virus system NOD32 is very good plus have Super-Antispyware, other malware detectors installed and functional. When you plug in your USB if it has malware the resident AV software should detect and isolate. For real safety reformat the USB. Have you tried to remove and replug your usb drive. Maybe your computer haven't detected your USB yet. If that fails, try the other USB ports. Maybe a chkdsk /f will solve some issue? If you just want to know if the drive works, format it and see if it's recognizable again. Else, the USB connector may have been pulled from the board itself.
