I have a new Systemax Venture VC Desktop Computer - Pentium Dual Core E2220 with Windows Vista home edition
The sound works fine for all the installed games such as Hoyle. NO sound for video's, mp3's, or any website. I have tried jibjab, youtube, etc. I have tried uninstalling in device manager and scanning for hardware changes; (driver is up-to-date); switched out computer speakers; I am at a loss. never seen "partial sound." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just look at the volume control at the right-bottom of the screen on the taskbar. Some games adjust volume as needed and hence this is possible that you get sound for the games. Also see if this happens with all multimedia players or just on some problems. May be you have the problems with plugins.
