Acer aspire 1310 laptop screen problem

My acer aspire 1310 Laptop has runs on xp and I always have the xp installation cd, I also have another screen . How do I use the pc as external hard drive. I have already connected the other screen on the laptop and when I light the windows logo that will start and after when the time comes when we are supposed to put the code, nothing more.

Can someone help me ?

You can not use it as external hard drive. As against you can remove the hard drive of this pc deteriorated and some euro for the acquisition of a "limping external hard disk 2" 1 / 2 compatible with the standard thereof. By inserting the hard disk in this box and connecting it to a USB socket you can first and then recover your data then format having a small external hard drive support.

I think it's a hardware rather than software issue since I am able to physically affect it by squeezing the screen, and since it gradually degraded rather than just appeared.
