Epson Stylus DX4450 is slowing down the PC

    Hello everyone,

I have a little problem with my multifunction printer (EPSON Stylus DX4450), it made a lot slow down my PC. The problem often appears after the first printing of its start-up. The PC is slow for about 1 minute and after refunction normally. If I run other impressions, the PC goes idle again and again.
When I disconnect the USB cable from the printer while the PC is idle, it starts at normal speed.

My PC is running Windows XP Pro

Thank you in advance for your help

Done CTRL + ALT + DEL and look at what power supply and cpu: I suspect something other than your printer. see in the Performance tab how much % CPU used.

That is what is happening in my opinion:

when you launch a command to print it already slowing because all other programs have all the ram and cpu avail. The few resources that you have left is then used by the printer. Thus the accumulation of programs running in the background that explode the resources available.

run msconfig at startup and disable all unnecessary programs launched at startup. I particularly msn and Apache. I advise you to uncheck among other things if you had: itunes, MsnMsgr , QTTask ,jusched etc

you need 1gb of ram to be comfortable especially with all the applications are using at the same time as you do. Also disables Apache and MySQL if you had installed.

CCleaner can also take in the register tab do a good cleaning and then vires as temporary files and defragment your hard drives.

    Hi,

Thank you for the help. I disabled as you tell me the files to be launched in msconfig. I ran ccleaner and defragmented my disks but same thing. the first impression is going well and after this CPU used will not tumble to 100% pdt a moment. Then I wanted to do a print preview in word and word there makes me a message saying the printer has not responded.

It is now 3 minutes that the CPU is 100%. As soon as I against disconnect the USB cable from the printer CPU immediately dropped to 3-4%. I have Outlook, MSN, IE and Word all at the same turn ups. If I reconnect, it unlocks the PC. I try to uninstall and reinstall my printer before posting on the forum.

If I read your reasoning, I would overclock RAM.
My configuration: Atlhon 64 3200 1GB RAM Graphics Card Ge Force 7300 GT 256MB.

Now if you see something else I'm interested.

1gb RAM I think it is correct for your needs. trying to clean your print spooler. Print each file is stored in a folder. To clean it is in Start, Run, cmd tapes and tapes: net stop spooler and tapes net start spooler

it clears out the work that has been printed
