    USB Flash Memory as a CD-ROM drive

    Hello.

    Is it possible to make its USB Pen on all PCs will see it as a CD-ROM drive / DVD drive? It is seen before in connection with USB modem'er (3G) has laid the software into a small drive in modem so you do not remember a CD every time you want to install it.

    You can also get a USB Pen with a program where it is located in the same way (U3) . I want to make one of my USB pen so it will be seen as a CD-ROM drive, because I can run an autorun without problems.

    Or are there other options?

    Hope that there are some out there who understand what I mean and possibly. can help or advise.

    Thank you in advance.

    Believe it is possible to trick the computer into thinking it is a CD-ROM. But it is possible to get a USB pen to run an autorun: Open Notepad, type the following meadows and save the file as autorun.inf and similar to the root of the USB drive:

    [autorun]
    open = Program.exe
    action = Run Program
    icon = Program.exe
    label = My Portable PC

    open define which program to USB'en to run the program does not need to lie at the root, but may well be Folder / Program.exe . action to define what windows explorer should write in the autorun dialog

    icon define which icon will represent the program in Windows Explorer's autron dialogue and at the drive in Windows Explorer. This can be subtracted from one. Exe file or a. Ico file

    label can be used to define the name of the drive in Windows Explorer

    It can not be done with a plain. USB stick to the U3 and 3G modems have something in their firmware that emulates a CD-ROM drive. However you can buy a U3 key.

    Thanks for the quick reply. However, tried it with autorun.inf and it works fine in vista, but I now use XP on my homr pc and will not work. Have tried on both my PCs. But in terms of U3 key, how can we change this drive?

    Have a VB Script I want to run each time the key is put to, and it should work in both XP + Vista. So I thought that if we could get a USB key to be seen as CD-ROM drive
