Go (quickly) into the BIOS before you get the error message. In the BIOS under 'Power' select 'Hardware Monitor'. Change the settings for the fans to 'Ignore', NOT 'N/A'. This will bypass the error and boot into the OS.

In short, the fan may not be the CPU FAN, but the one in the power supply?

There's also the issue that the 3-wire fan units are needed.

    Re: Ventilator fan Failure

If CPU temperature reaches 95C or so, machine is shut down _by hardware_. If operating system is able to interfere with that (it should not be), your hardware was trash in the first place. This failsafe actually tends to work on most machines. I tested it multiple times by sticking piece of paper into the fan, then loading CPU with kernel compilations while machine was covered in bad. And machines actually tend to survive that.
