    hi,
I must say that Seagates run very cool and quite over my maxtor drive which runs abit hotter and louder but it is quite fast and I havent had problems with it yet (had for 6 months) and my friend had a western digital that went on him once but got it rma'ed VERY quick and its kinda fast.

I would have to agree on the Seagate, as of right now IMO they are top notch and I love mine. While I can't comment on that specific WD model, seems every WD drive I have had has given me some sort of issue. The new Hitachi's are supposed to be pretty nice, but I have no experience with them at all.

Why would anyone go with anything less than Seagate? Only HD manufacturer with a standard 5 year warranty.

Honestly WD are at the cheaper end and are used a lot because they are cheaper, me, i'd rather spend the extra and get a maxtor or seagate.

I guess Seagate is still the way to go. Although I've heard pretty good things about Hitachi. And choosing between Seagate and Maxtor won't mean much since Maxtor has been Seagate's property since 2006.

Has anyone looked at how long the warrenty are in each one of these?

I have always used WD Drives mainly for the warrenty and have never had an issue I did call in to replace one of the drives and it was a smooth process. All they asked was for a serial number looked it up and sent me the drive the next day and provided I sent the old one back in the box they sent me all was good and I did not pay a dime.

Have any of you had any similar things with any of the other drives?

Have a great Wonderfull and Fantastic Day!
