Getting slow speed when copying data between two SATA drives

    I have four SATA disk

    - 1 Raptor 36GB
    - 2 Hitachi 500 GB
    - 1 Seagate 500GB (bought recently)

For a week no problem with the Seagate. Furthermore it has been recognized, I changed the format type dynamic (in base) with a utility that avoids losing data.

Now I come to realize that copying files to this drive is 10 times slower than the other disks (45 MB/s against 3.5 MB/s)

PIO mode instead of Ultra DMA 5?

Panel -> list of devices -> Port Sata/IDE etc, right click and uninstall the main device.

Restart, you uninstall the secondary device associated with it. You can now reboot, Windows will reinstall itself peripherals at startup. When you're done, you rerunning Windows, as it comes to installation.

So after 2 reboots, everything should get better! (of course if the PIO mode which is at issue).

I went in the manager to switch from DMA 5 to PIO for the four IDE channel. Against by the SATA controller, no trace of these parameters. I retried, I went from 3.5 to 1.5 MB/s.

I would like to comment a little on your problem: the forgotten dynamic format is too restrictive and too little flexibility. If you do not have too much of data in that drive then I advise you to return to normal format (which destroys the data). I mean format your drive using OS installation CD.
