    Problem With USB Devices

I am having a strange problem with my usb devices. I made some changes with my computer by placing the machine few inches away to access the back, but due to this changes the keyboard (ps/2 port) and mouse (usb port) stopped working. I also tried the other usb ports and they are also not working either.

Please provide some help regarding this

    Your help will be appreciated

you most likely will need to get into the bios and enable usb support for keyboard. most mice should work with stock windows drivers however if it dosn't simply download them from manafactures web page or use microsoft ones or logitech.

also something else to try is use the ps2 keyboard and mouse until after you have logged in. Plug in the USB k/b, mouse etc and see if it detects and works.

Then shutdown, unplug the PS2 ones and turn the PC on again. The reason being that windows probably doesn't detect new devices, or doesn't configure them until after your logged in.

From your description of the problem, it looks like the result of some damage to Windows system files.

I understand you cannot get KBD in Safe Mode.
Are you able to use the keyboard in Startup Menu to hit "Last Known Good Configuration" and see if it can restore your Windows to the previous date?

The ECS mobo either have a jumper on the mobo close to the CPU or it may be in the BIOS. At any rate you will have to enable PS/2 for it to function. I'm pretty sure it's a jumper on the mobo. It's been about 6 months since I have worked with these boards, and I have work quite a few different ones since then, so I'm about as clear as mud on that. Your mobo manual should steer you in the right direction. Might be advisable to revisit the manual.

Actually if you press F8 repeatively before Windows starts it should work, especially if it allows the key to get to bios.

The only other option is to put your Windows disc in and Repair
