My mom bought a computer running Ubuntu. Everything works well but I can not install a printer of lexmark. Indeed, when I try to make a printing test, the computer tells me an error message. Thank you for help.

did you run /usr/local/lexmark/setup.lexprint ?
DFI LANPARTY SLI-DR
AMD 64 x2 4800+
OCZ (2 x 512) DDR600
ok got it installed had to run setup and tell it the the port it was on /dev/usblp0 instead of /dev/usb/lp0
ran install with this cammand
sudo ./setup
then ./pipslite-install found the printer and continue button lit and created the ppd file
and was able to install the printer under network/windows printer (smb)
Then used install driver and went to the usr/shared/cups/model directory and selected the eksprx580.ppd file then the rx580 showed up in the epson list of printers.
Can't say whether it will print a test page cause my 2 week old printer is out of ink in one of the 6 cartridges epson is sending me 6 new cartridges should have them tomorrow .

It's pretty easy to install a printer on Ubuntu, just follow these simple steps.
-Open System > Administration > Printing
-The Printers window is now displayed. Double click the New Printer icon.
-Now displayed is the Add a Printer window. Select Printer Type as Local or Detected Printer.
-Click on Use a detected Printer, select a printer from the list and click Forward.
-Select the Manufacturer, Model and Driver. Click Forward.
-Choose a name that will help you remember the printer & it's location.
-Click Apply.
Congratulations you added the printer to Ubuntu.
