USB key reboot the PC

Yesterday when I wanted to plug my USB key, I notice that when connecting my PC shuts off as if we had cut the power supply. I tried several other PCs, but the result is always the same.

So I do not know if I could recover my key, if so, how, and if not, is it a virus? While knowing that I can plug my key on my computers for me and my institution.

More seriously, gives you a linux CD and format the key from the live CD (if not => Gparted or any utility not using windows) it should work
