    USB ports no longer works

    Hello

I can not connect (usb key, webcam ....) when i purchased PC, it was working, everything else that worked before still works, (printer, mouse, key wifi).

My computer recognizes the hardware at the start, window down on the right but can not install the new hardware, point impossible with yellow mark and message:

"The equipment was not installed because the wizard can not find the necessary software" and even if the CD of Installation is in the drive.

Thank you in advance for the assistance.

    Best regards

    Hello,
The first obvious solution to try is to do a restore to a point before your installation problems. have you tried to deactivate and reactivate (by the device manager) your USB ports?

Enter the Bios , At cold boot, press the "delete" key, that should get you the bios pages. Not sure which bios vendor provided your bios software, so I'll be a bit vague here. You are looking for "Onboard USB support" with an enable/disable prompt. You will want to change it to enabled. Select "Save and Exit" and follow the prompts to reboot. If you look while you're in there, there may be an "F" key entry for previous settings. You might try that. Be very careful what settings you change, as you can cause the system to not post, boot, or worse. All bios systems have descriptions of the settings within the page. Those are displayed as each item is selected

Make sure the power saving mode is unchecked in device manager for the USB controller.
Try reinstalling the USB 2.0 patch: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822603

Reconnect your USB wires internally. Ensure your BIOS is up to date. After that it has to either be a bad wire(s) or faulty mobo.
    • you can shut down your system...
    • Open the case and trace the cable from the USB ports that are troubleing you.
    • Disconnect them from the Main Board .
    • Re boot and then after a complete reboot, do another Shutdown.
    • Reattach the cables
    • Restart again....
