I have a 500GB MyBook on the desktop that backs up three computers and a 120GB Passport that I use with the laptop. I did NOT have good luck with an Maxtor external. The software crashed and ate 180GB of backed up files and the drive itself died in less than a year.
I would recommend building one out of a external hardrive case and internal hard drive. it will save you 50 bucks and you will get a better drive with a lot more storage. you can also choose your case and how it looks and its cooling options. I would defiantly get a Western Digital or Segate drive. They are the best 7200 RPM and 10000RPM disks you can get. And storage is very cheap now. You can get 160 GB for under 60 bucks. Nad a sweet case for 20. if you want to buy it already built buy a western digital. best quality quitet drives. good price-wise because the less you pay you might get a 5400 RPM drive which is slow and impractical, because its not battery powered.
