How to recover data from my data drive

Hello, I have a Data Drive external Western Digital 500GB and suddenly it is no longer recognized by XP but only in the BIOS. The problem is that it appears to be completely blank when it was almost full. I do not think that data is lost. Can anybody help me ?

Hello,
It is connected to USB ? If so, try to connect to another USB port as usual.You tried with a Linux CD? On another PC ? Try first to download and make one PC Inspector file recovery and see if it is a problem viewing or deleting data. Good luck

As far as using a linux live-cd ,If you do not want to install! Have you looked in the device manager if there was a hardware drivers are bad ?

I have already tried this, nothing changes. but thank you because I opted for the Linux solution and Regarding linux the peripheral everything is OK, Again thank you all for your help!!
