Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green hard drive in India

WD's caviar green is a drive packed with 2TB storage capacity called as the WD20EADS. Boasting of the world’s highest storage capacity, the novel drive comes with many features that make it environment friendly too.



The new 3.5-inch platform is based on WD's 500 GB/platter technology (with 400 Gb/in2 areal density) with 32 MB cache, producing drives with capacities of up to 2 TB. It ensures additional power saving as compared to the conventional drives available currently.

The WD Caviar Green 2 TB hard drive is now available at select resellers and distributors across India for Rs 14,950. It also comes in 1.5 TB of capacity.

WD Caviar Green drives are designed for use in USB/FireWire/eSATA external hard drives, desktop computers, workstations, and desktop RAID environments.

• StableTrac – To secure the motor shaft at both ends and minimize system-induced vibration, stabilizing platters for accurate tracking during read and write operations.
• IntelliPower - To modify the balance of spin speed, transfer rate and caching algorithms designed, ensuring significant power savings and solid performance.
• IntelliSeek – To calculate optimum seek speeds and lower power consumption, noise, and vibration.
• NoTouch ramp load technology – To avoid the recording head to touch the disk media for better drive protection while in transit.
